I was at a solstice party when we got the news that Trump has bombed Iran. My friends and I were laughing and talking, and eventually Uncle Google had to be asked about something or other. One friend pulled out his phone to look up whatever fact or piece of data we were searching for, and his face dropped.
“He bombed Iran”
“No, wait, it’s not on the New York Times yet. Maybe it’s not true?”
But just a few moments later when he refreshed his screen, there it was.
I don’t know what to put in these next paragraphs.
But I know that being able to hold the impossible is why I practice and teach somatics. I don’t do it to regulate my nervous system, or detox my cortisol, or whatever other trend is currently circulating. I do it because decades ago I realized that if I wanted to be present to the world and not feel torn apart by it, I would need to practice being present in my own breath, and within the space of my own cells.
Join me tomorrow, Monday June 23rd, at 7pm EST, for a free one hour guided somatic practice
This is what I can offer right now, so I am.
